THE BEACHES OF FOLEGANDROS

YOU CAN'T WAIT TO DIVE IN

Folegandros has a good number of beaches, none of which are equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas.

Since the road network is not particularly developed, you need to know how to reach them

AGÁLI

Sand and pebble beach reached by an asphalt road and served by public bus departing from Chora, which is about 4 km away.

There is no natural shade on the beach, but there are restaurants and snack bars. We highlight the beach bar Amoudaki and the Psaromiligos Tavern, alias Panagiotis, where Italian is also spoken.

Agali Pier is the departure point for boats to the beaches of Agios Nikolaos and Livadaki.

Two paths start from Agali: one, on the right, for the beaches of Galifos (5/10 minutes walk) and Agios Nikolaos (20 minutes) and one on the left for Firá beach (10 minutes).

AGIOS NIKÓLAOS

Made of sand and pebbles, it is one of the most "fashionable" beaches in Folegandros.

It can be reached from Agali, either with a path on the right of the beach which requires a 20 minute walk, or with the boats leaving from the pier.

It is by far the best positioned bay with respect to the winds and part of the beach is shaded by maritime pines.

Taverna Agios Nikolaos on the beach, it serves traditional cuisine and fish.

Restaurant Papalagi in a fabulous position on the hill, managed by Paris and family; excellent home cooking and fresh fish. Paris and some staff members speak Italian

AGIOS GEORGIOS

Made of sand and pebbles, it is located on the north-western tip of the island and can be reached:

It is very exposed to the "meltemi" and winds coming from the North.
Some trees shade the area behind the beach and there are no refreshment points.

In Ano Meriá, an obligatory route to reach the beach, we point out:
-the Tavern Maragoudiko, excellent meat and vegetarian dishes and the famous Skepastí, a dish served in Folegandros only in this restaurant;
Chrysospilia, café and shop selling honey, its derivatives and home-made jams, all produced in Folegandros

AMPÈLI

Tiny white pebble beach located in a deep bay at the extreme north of the island on the south-west coast. It can be reached on foot, in 45 minutes from the Ano Meria bus terminus, continuing in the opposite direction to the town and taking a mule track indicated on the left side of the main road or with your own means of transport, passing Ano Meria and taking a dirt road that starts from the end of the main road.

La baia del porto

Long pebble and pebble beach located on the port promenade and shaded by maritime pines.

It can be reached by public transport or a 2-minute walk from the port bus stop.

Clean sea, considering the small number of ships that pass through Folegandros.

Restaurants, snack bars and mini markets.

We point out the tavern Il Capo del Porto, excellent traditional cuisine and some delicious unusual dishes; very pleasant even for moonlit dinners.

LATINÁKI

Inserted in the large bay of the port, on the opposite side of the pier, it is one of the coves that you encounter along the coastal road that connects the port to Livadi beach. A staircase leads from the main road to the beach. It can also be reached on foot from the port bus stop, which is about 700 meters away.

There is no natural shade or refreshment point, but a short distance away are the port's snack bars, restaurants and mini-markets.
